There’s a trend happening right now that I just adore. You know, those sweet little tops with the peplum waist. So feminine and figure-flattering. The problem, however, is that they’re IMPOSSIBLE to breast feed in. It’s like putting the boobs in a cloister. A high neckline and fitted waist means that baby can’t get in from top or bottom, no matter how hard they try. I bought one of these shortly after having my daughter without thinking about such things. On my first big ‘night out’ after having her I decided to wear it. Baby, however, had other plans and proceeded to throw a fit as I was walking out the door. I ended up discarding the top in a mad dash for boob, and found myself on the couch, topless, wondering if I should just call it a night.
Since then I’ve been on the hunt for the peplum style that is also breastfeeding friendly. So far I’ve struck out, but what I have discovered is the peplum jacket instead. This style is also great for accentuating the waist, since sometimes that part of the body can feel hard to find post-baby.
I found this vegan leather one at Target. I love the blush color, which is so pretty, but also works with a lot of different colors, making the jacket more versatile than you’d think.
Asos makes this super cute one, and below is another amazing, velvet version from Nasty Gal.
